Barjarg Tower lies on a gentle slope enjoying the lovely views of the surrounding Lowther hills. The original tower house dates back to the late 16th century but has had various cleverly designed additions over the years. The gardens have undergone considerable development over the last years, though the carpets of snowdrops in the surrounding woods remain a tribute to the care of earlier generations. While the gardens will be largely dormant at the chosen date, the spring bulbs should be poking through and the surrounding woods are sure to be thick with the annual display of these snowdrops.
Situated on the C125 half way between Auldgirth and Penpont. Driving from Auldgirth, the stone, arched entrance is on the left-hand side with Barjarg engraved on sandstone.
