Brechin Gardens in Summer

Locations across Brechin DD9 6LE
The Gardeners of Brechin
Current Openings:
Description:
24 North Latch Road Brechin DD9 6LE (Alistair and Mary Gray): Learn how the owners grow and show vegetables and how these can be a spectacular display of colourful bedding-full greenhouses.
Andover Primary School Garden (NEW) 50A Drumachlie Park, Brechin DD9 7BU (Andover School Staff and Pupils): An area of barren ground in a forgotten corner of the school has been transformed into a colourful and abundant space where classes have been growing and harvesting their own produce. It makes a magical hiding space for games and is also popular with butterflies and other insects!
Bishops Walk 11A Argyll St, Brechin DD9 6JL (Steff and Mike Eyres): Winding paths lead through an eclectic mix of perennials, shrubs, conifers (including a young wollemi pine in a pot) and roses within this walled garden, accessed through the potting shed.
Montrose Street DD9 7EF (Brechin Community Garden Volunteers): Started in 2015 on an abandoned allotment site, this community scheme shares experience and learning skills involved in gardening for their own use and for local people. Additions since last year include a log cabin and mud kitchen.
Latchlea (NEW) 17A North Latch Road, Brechin DD9 6LE (Pamela Stevens): A new garden begun as a way of coping with bereavement. Inspired by the Queen saying that 'everyone should plant as many trees as possible', 100 trees are newly planted along The Old Lady Walk. Features include some fine stonework, shrubs, herbaceous plants and bulbs and also a courtyard garden.
Lower Duncraig 2, Castle Street, Brechin DD9 6JN (Jan and Andrew Crow): A small town garden recently redesigned to include less grass and more plants. Plants are selected mainly for their value to wildlife and a small pond supports this. Space has been found for a few trees and 20 different roses.
Rosehill West (NEW) 15C North Latch Road, Brechin DD9 6LF (Dr Robert and Mrs Jenny Martin): An acre of newly planted garden, formerly a field, featuring mature original trees, herbaceous areas, fruit trees (quince and crab apple), and a path through recently planted trees. A work in progress!

Directions: Gardens are located around the town of Brechin. Look for the SGS yellow arrows.

Other details: Teas and tickets will be available at the cathedral hall, with tickets also available at the gardens. Please note Brechin in Bloom Community Garden will not be open.
