SGS COVID-19 Guidance for our Visitors

Please check the latest government guidance for what you can and cannot do, including where you are allowed to visit - https://www.gov.scot/

Our Garden Openers will each have conducted a risk assessment according to the guidance set out by the Scottish Government for the Tourism Sector to prepare their garden for re-opening.

As a garden visitor, we would appreciate your assistance with a few items:

  1. Before setting out to any garden opening, please check our website HOME page and the specific garden’s information page (found under FIND A GARDEN) for any relevant updates.

  2. Any special information related to an opening will be noted under OTHER DETAILS on the Garden’s website page. For example, some Garden Openings may require pre-purchase of tickets, others might be happy for you to bring a picnic.

  3. Please bring exact change (if you have not otherwise paid for an advance ticket). You will be asked to put your donation into a bucket and change will not be available.

  4. Please stagger your arrival time. Traditionally most visitors tend to arrive around the start time. But we wish to have a more spread out flow of visitors and you can assist by arriving at various times. We will assist by asking our openers to extend their normal visiting hours.

  5. Each individual visiting group should be no more than six people and from a maximum of two households.

  6. Please practice the recommended physical distancing as well as good hygiene during your visit. Please avoid touching surfaces and practice good hygiene for your personal self as well as others. Our openers will try to assist and make this easiest for their visitors.

  7. We are carefully planning each opening to avoid any potential crowding and may use ticketing for time slots as appropriate. However, if overcrowding does occur unexpectedly, you will be notified on arrival by signage or by one of our volunteers. Please be ready to cooperate with any requests to delay your visit.
