Woodbourne House

Seven Sisters, Lenzie, Glasgow G66 3AW
Alice May
This is a landscaped garden on several levels; about the size of half a football pitch and roughly triangular with a traditional Victorian villa at its centre. A work in progress, it features a wildlife pond and a 'wigloo' – an igloo made from living willow and climbers – alongside rare and unusual perennials. These include cold-hardy tropicals and colourful tender ones. On one side a woodland-style border gives way to a bog garden and exotic slope, while paths and steps lead up to decking and gravel planting along the rear drive.

Directions: From the M80 exit Junction 3 onto the A806. After two mini-roundabouts turn left onto Woodilee Road at the Old Gatehouse pub. Park in the pub. Walk back onto Woodilee Road and turn left along it, then left again onto Seven Sisters and continue right to the very end to Woodbourne House.
