Garth House Virtual Garden Tour

The south facing rear garden is packed with hostas, rhododendrons, alstroemerias, hellebores, brunneras and a wide range of shrubs and climbers, planted to create sheltered, enclosed seating areas. The front garden includes a densely planted 30 yard long herbaceous border (20 years in the making) and offers a panoramic view of the Kilpatrick Hills. There is a small woodland area with six white stemmed Jacquemontii silver birches, a pond (with frogs and lilies) and a small stream. A traditional Victorian greenhouse surrounded by a cutting garden for annuals and peonies. Herbs and soft fruit are also nurtured. Box, yew and hebe balls throughout the garden, mainly grown from cuttings. Children are welcome to climb into the treehouse, swing on the swing or strap into a harness and attempt the climbing wall (under supervision). Final challenge, find the 1940s air raid shelter and seven much loved compost heaps!
