Description:
Glenkindie House was a 16th century castle remodelled in the 1900s. The walled gardens are laid out in the Victorian Arts & Crafts style with herbaceous borders, a magnificent rhododendron shrubbery, specimen trees and rose beds. There is a fine collection of unusual yew topiary depicting teddy bears, chess pieces and characters from Alice in Wonderland. Visitors can also enjoy a stroll around the pond to view the 17th century dovecot.
Directions: On the A97 Alford/Strathdon road, 12 miles west of Alford. Entrance to Glenkindie House is through the main gates, free parking available near the gardens.
Other details: Admission £10 including refreshments, children free, no dogs except service dogs. Toilet and disabled toilet facilities available. There will also be a RAFFLE on both days in aid of The Silver Circle and Scotland's Gardens Scheme. There will also be an excellent display of Bonsai trees.
