Description:
Killearn, at the foot of the Campsie Hills with fine views of Loch Lomond, is described as one of the prettiest villages in Stirlingshire. A number of gardens both large and small will be open - some featuring a fine collection of acers plus water features, relaxed sitting areas and beautiful mixed borders. Some have been re-developed utilising raised beds or transformed through lockdown.
19 Buchanan Road (NEW)
G63 9RW: A garden to the front and side of the house, comprising of greenhouse, raised beds, seating area and water feature.
3 Elm Road
G63 9RY: On the edge of the conserved woodland of Killearn Glen, with raised vegetable beds, a greenhouse, potting shed, grass, paved pathways and gravel, forming a colourful, peaceful sanctuary for people and wildlife.
3 The Oaks (NEW)
G63 9SF: This is a new gardener’s new garden. I dug it out in 2020 in a bid to save my sanity in lockdown and we’ve been growing together ever since as I learn from my many, many mistakes. I can’t describe the joy it gives me. I hope you enjoy it too.
30 Allan Road (NEW)
G63 9QE: A mixture of interesting small trees and shrubs, a small pond which is home to frogs and newts etc. Flower borders are filled with spring and summer bulbs, my favourite perennials and a collection of vegetables grown in containers.
36 Allan Road (NEW)
G63 9QE: The main focus of the garden is a productive vegetable patch (having replaced the lawn), a couple of flower beds and small apple trees to the front. The rear has a poly tunnel which is used to extend the vegetable growing season and raise seedlings. Also, a wildlife area is being developed. Everything is grown without the use of pesticides. We are lucky enough to have visiting hedgehogs. The garden is still being created and nurtured as it had not been looked after for a number of years.
5 Buchanan Road (NEW)
G63 9RW: This compact garden over different levels maximises the available space, allowing for a variety of vegetables, fruit and flowers including dahlias to be grown for exhibiting at the Killearn Annual Show.
The Pepperpot
43 Station Road G63 9NZ: A plantsman's garden in flower from April till October with many sub-tropical species and hybrids. Three floriferous mixed borders, several rose beds, dry-stone dykes, ponds and streams. Acers, rhododendrons, alpines and azaleas.
