Description: Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are very sorry that The Granary is no longer able to open with Scotland's Gardens Scheme in 2025, despite it being listed in our guidebook. However, we are delighted that The Steading is still opening as planned.
The Steading (Helen Kemp & Paul Grime): This is a large 1.4 acre wildlife friendly garden, run with permaculture principals, with distinct areas featuring herbaceous borders, ponds, meadow and wildflowers, vegetable garden and orchard, glasshouses and polytunnel. We started here in 2015, with only 6 mature trees in place. There is a natural swimming pond in addition to the other ponds around the garden.

Directions: The Steading is half a mile from Morebattle Village centre. Take the road opposite the community shop (Mainsfield Avenue). We are the first house on the right hand side. Morebattle can be reached by the number 81 bus from Kelso (not Sundays).

Other details: Teas will be available at the Templehall Inn (Morebattle Community Hub and Pub). There is limited parking at the house, additional parking available in the village.
