A walled formal garden with box-edged borders, a castellated yew, large greenhouse and rustic summerhouse. The garden was originally laid out at the turn of the 19th century. The planting has been changed and varied. It now comprises lots of spring bulbs, roses, lavender, agapanthus, iris, meconopsis etc within a formal frame work. Outside the wall there is a large pond, formal lily pond and walks through shrubberies of rhdodendron, azalea, philadelphus, acer, cornus and many more. In the spring there are many daffodils, snowdrops, aconites , fritillary and tulips. There is a woodland garden with a burn running through it. There are many old and young trees which give an excellent show in the autumn. The garden is cared for by a small team and there are always weeds somewhere (merely plants in the wrong place)!
