The Japanese Garden at Cowden Autumn Events
Join in at The Japanese Garden at Cowden to celebrate all things Autumn with daily activities for the little ones throughout the October break. Follow the pumpkin trail created by Cowden staff and Volunteers or make something arty to take home with self-led crafts in the woodland classroom. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the woodland and critters that live there. Why not brighten up their days and wear your very best spooky costumes! Please check the garden website for opening times and to book tickets.

This event has been organised and funded by the Scottish International Storytelling Festival.
16th October 2024: Autumn Crafts
Join Nicola, the Education & Outreach Officer, for a creative morning making origami bats and beautiful autumn leaf prints in The Bothy. This is bookable online and includes garden entry (please ensure all accompanying adults have also purchased garden entry tickets separately online).
Start with a short walk around the Garden, looking at the autumnal colours on the beautiful acers. Then move to the Education Bothy and have a go at making printed cards and bookmarks using some of the dropped leaves from these beautifully shaped leaves.
Whilst waiting for the prints to dry, finish up by having a go at making origami bats – essentials for any planned Halloween celebrations later in the month!
Suitable for children 5+ yrs and they must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
