Description: A varied selection of gardens, approximately 1000 feet above sea level with acidic soil, high rainfall and low winter temperatures. Srongarbh, an Arts and Crafts house (not open) has a large, well-established garden dating from the 1930s surrounded by woodland, with many trees and shrubs within the garden. Others have interesting herbaceous borders and borrowed landscapes, a cutting garden and mixed planting to attract wildlife.

Directions: About 15 miles southwest of Edinburgh, take the A701 or the A702 and follow signs. Bus 101 or 102 from Edinburgh to Gordon Arms Hotel.

Other details: Teas, tickets and plant sale at the New Church Hall in the centre of the village, which will be signposted. A minibus will run between the gardens which are uphill and have very limited parking.
