Description: Gardens fit for a castle that was built to entertain royalty and show off the best of craftsmen. A family home still used for entertaining at the centre of an historic country estate just 30 minutes from Edinburgh. A glorious spring display of daffodils and cherry blossom surrounds the castle, interspersed with exceptional examples of fine specimen trees. Take a walk around Sir David’s Loch, the natural woodland area at The Dell and enjoy the beautiful borders of the castle terraces, accessed by gravelled sloping pathways and stone steps.

Directions: Entrance off the B6355 Tranent/Pencaitland Road. 

Other details: Guided Castle and Garden Tours also available (pre-booking online advisable). Teas, home baking and light refreshments available at Cafe Winton, dogs on leads are welcome within grounds.
